"Upping the Millennial Ante: Putting Martyrdom on the Table"

On Thursday, February 14th, at 7:00 pm, the Philadelphia Seminar on Christian Origins (PSCO) will welcome Albert I. Baumgarten, editor of the recent book (Brill 2000) Apocalyptic Time, Director of the Center for Millennial Studies at Boston University, and Director of the Center for Religious Anthropology at Bar Ilan University.

He will speak on the topic "Upping the Millennial Ante: Putting Martyrdom on the Table." Participants may want to read his Introduction to Apocalyptic Time; we will have xerox copies available at the Department of Religious Studies.

The location for our meeting on February 14th will be room 402 in Logan Hall, University of Pennsylvania Campus, Philadelphia.

Persons wishing to dine with other participants prior to the meeting should meet at 6:00 pm at Logan Hall (southeast of Locust Walk and 36th Street Walk) or go directly to the Food Court in the basement of Houston Hall (just east of Logan, along Spruce Street), where a variety of food choices is available at reasonable prices.
