PSCO Presentation: 13 October, 2016
“Hezekiah the Censor and the Case of the Missing Books”
Eva Mroczek (UCDavis)
Prof. Mroczek is currently an Assistant Professor at University of California, Davis. Her first book, The Literary Imagination in Jewish Antiquity (Oxford University Press, 2016) is a study of how early Jewish writers imagined sacred writing before the Bible existed as a concept. She is currently working on a second book, The Other David, which is an intellectual history of King David’s changing biographies from antiquity to the present. For more on her and her work see her UC Davis profile page.
Here is an audio recording of this session. (If you prefer, you can download this recording.)
In preparation for the session, Prof. Mroczek suggests the following readings: Ascension of Isaiah; m. Pes 4.9; Excerpts from Hypomnestikon; Excerpt from Torrey's Lives of the Prophets. PDFs of these readings have been posted in the Files area of our PSCO Facebook page. If you would like them sent to you by email, please contact Jill Stinchcomb (jstin@sas).
