But to whom is the government paying attention?
As noted much earlier, it’s the foreign investor that occupies the minds of
Korean administrators. In order to compete globally, Korea has to establish
itself as a dominate player in world economics. To this end, they have
established certain policies and created overseeing committees or
ministries. But besides theses devices, physical representations of
administrative policies have taken shape in the form of industrial / science
parks. These technology parks have been springing up all over Korea and
exist as marvelous examples of thought turned into action.
The government's obsession with global economic competition is motivated by what they feel is the best interest of their people, but as we have seen, certain malevolent social ramifications have resulted. Regardless, the Korean administration is continuing to push their country as a worthy investment for foreign parties. The following pages examine how the government is marketing itself online, demonstrating its fixation on external factors rather than internal interests. The most attractive stock that the government is offering is in the form of industrial parks. These tech parks, in the minds of Korean officials, promise to make Korea as the ultimate economic hub of northeast Asia.
