The first national industrial complex of Korea to be established
in the site of 600,000㎡
(1,982,000㎡)
located in the district of
Gasan-dong, Geumcheon-gu and Guro-dong, Guro-gu in Seoul from
1964 to 1973 in accordance with 'Export Industrial Complex
Development and Establishment Act'.
|
Currently, over 1,300 companies are taking up tenancy inside the
complex to perform
production activities by over 36,000 employees.
The major points of 'Advancement Plan for Guro Industrial Complex', as
notified by the
government in 1997, state that an exclusive complex for venture
companies to the scale of
80,000㎡
will be established in Complex 1, while Complex 2 and 3 of 120,000㎡
and 230,000㎡
respectively will be specialized as industrial complexes centered on
fashion design, advanced technology and other knowledge based
industries, thus the entire
complex of 600,000㎡
will be rearranged as a digital industrial complex with high
competitiveness by 2006. It will be actively promoted to induce
independent business-type
conversion or substitution entry by private companies whilst
guaranteeing production
activities of the existing tenant companies to the maximum degree.
Particularly, for the purpose of inducing venture industries with
technol9ogical renovation, of which rapid development as the
concentrated business field for the 21st century is expected, 80,000㎡
out of Seoul Digital Complex (formally Guro Complex) is designated for
Techno-Park, for which a systematic device is to be prepared to enable
private individuals to utilize exiting factories, thus directly
involving themselves in construction of venture complex. It is also
planned for redevelopment and improvement as an environmentally
friendly
industrial complex. For companies taking up tenancy inside the venture
complex, various
administrative, financial and tax related supports as well as expanded
convenience facilities to workers will be provided.
As the phase 1 in venture complex establishment project, Korea
Industrial Complex Corp.
has constructed 'KICOX Venture Center', the intelligent building of
8,198㎡
in total
floorage structured in 3 underground as well as 15 ground floors, to
provide service from
specialized supporting organizations of legal, tax, accounting, patent
and business
management consulting fields, etc. as well as various public
convenience facilities and
foundation for information super-highway, thus to provide optimal
business environment for
venture companies, leading the way in changing Seoul Digital
Industrial Complex as the
venture-IT centered composite information industry complex.
By 2006, in which the plan for advancement is due for completion,
Seoul Digital Industrial
Complex will be reformed as the newest industrial complex centered on
venture business
research & development and the latest information & knowledge
industry. Thus, as the largest scaled manufacturing business oriented
venture valley of Korea, it is anticipated to being
forward another heyday of Korean economy to surpass the 'Miracle of
Han River' of the past. |
