Like immunizations and operations, the physician’s office was another common subject for photographs. This was in part because by mid-century medical practice had become increasingly centered in the physician’s office. These charts, which summarize the results of two major studies of American medical practice, show that the proportion of physician visits occurring in the home had decreased and the proportion occurring in the physician's office had increased. Radio dramas, movies, and television programs in this period, however, continued to portray physicians calling at patients’ homes.
