Readings

Prof. O'Donnell offers the following suggestions for those who wish to prepare for the presentation. They could refresh their memory of Augustine's De Doctrina Christiana. (Here are a translation, selections, and O'Donnell's introduction to it from his book on Augustine). Those unfamiliar with Cassiodorus, may find this chapter of O'Donnell's book on Cassiodorus useful. Finally, this previous essay can serve as a point of departure and (likely) also debate about earlier authors saying the same thing./p
