These materials are designed for use at the absolute beginning stage of learning Tamil. They introduce simple vocabulary of a sort found in the classroom or in an ordinary home, and they introduce functions such as (1) Asking Questions (both Yes-No questions and WH- questions), (2) Deictic Expressions ('this/that/which'); (3) Simple Negation; (4) Expressing Location (with locative case); (5) and finally Dative-Experiencer (Dative-Stative) expressions such as 'knowing', 'liking', 'wanting', 'sufficiency' as well as the negatives of these.
